About

Hello! I’m Renata Andrade, originally from Minas Gerais and currently living in Silicon Valley, California, in the United States.

I’m a Software Quality Engineer with experience in both small and large projects, both local and international. My specialty is solving complex quality problems in innovative and creative ways. I love sharing knowledge and inspiring professionals, which I do through mentoring, speaking engagements, and training sessions in Portuguese and English.

1986

I was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

2004

My first job, as an IT specialist, was at RHI Magnesita (I was studying for a Technical Diploma in Management Information Systems at COTEMIG).

2007

My first job as a QA engineer at Powerlogic. I was already in college, studying Information Systems – also at COTEMIG – and wanted to become a developer; I figured that getting into the testing field would make it easier to get there. And it did! Stay tuned… Oh, and back then, we basically only used Selenium.

2008

My first job as a developer at Challenge Innovative Technologies. It was an amazing experience, but I realized that Software Quality was my passion. So I ended up returning to the testing field, and I’ve stayed there ever since.

2015

I went to New Zealand to study English. I felt that my lack of English was preventing me from accessing newer technologies. And after six months, later that same year, I returned to Brazil. I started working at Avenue Code, and the company gave me the opportunity to move to the United States.

2019

I got my work visa through the company and moved to the United States. Silicon Valley is the world’s technology hub. Everything here is very accessible: meetups, events across all IT fields, universities, companies using cutting-edge technology, and many highly knowledgeable people.

And here I am, sharing all that knowledge with to you.

Know that you can do it too! All it takes is the desire and dedication.

Count on me!
